10 years of Hazel Hill – let the stories begin

This year, Hazel Hill Trust turns ten.

Over the past decade, thousands of people have stepped into the wood for healing, learning, reflection and reconnection. Some came for a weekend and left with a changed relationship to the natural world. Others have returned again and again—bringing their families, running workshops, volunteering, tending the land.

As part of our tenth anniversary, we’re beginning a year-long celebration of these people, moments, and memories. This won’t be a perfectly polished history. It’s something more alive. More organic. We’re opening the gates and seeing what grows.

Why Stories?

Because the richness of Hazel Hill is often invisible. It’s in the quiet shifts, the walks alone or together, the unexpected conversations side-by-side chopping wood, the moment someone sees a bird they have never seen before, or sat under a tree and realised they’re not alone.

These are the stories we want to hear. These are the stories we want to honour.

What We’re Doing

Over the next few months, we’re starting to gather stories, quotes, photos and memories. We’re not yet sure what it will all become—an archive, a celebration, a collection — but we know it has to start somewhere.

The year of celebration will begin with this year’s Bioblitz in July. here will be two main celebrations gatherings:

• Looking Back – a storytelling celebration in September 2025

• Looking Forward – a visioning weekend in March 2026

All of this is in the planning stages. But the process starts now. And it starts with you.

What You Can Do

  • 📝 Send us a story or memory – however small
  • 📸 Share a photo from a past visit or event
  • 🎤 Nominate someone whose story should be recorded
  • 🌿 Join us as a volunteer to help gather, sort and share

We’ll be collecting stories throughout the year and sharing them along the way. You don’t need to know what you want to say. Just reach out—we’d love to hear from you.

Be Part of the Story

Like trees planted ten years ago, some stories are only just now pushing through the brambles. Others have been standing tall for years. Let’s tend to them, together.
