Summer Gathering

Mon 29 Jul to Sat 3 Aug 2024

What could be better than to spend time in the woods in summer, in good company? To play, explore, relax, and share food and drink. How about getting stuck into conservation tasks and attending workshops? Maybe you prefer to sit and chat around the fire after a satisfying day working together on practical tasks in the wood, in the spirit of reciprocity. Maybe you fancy having a sing and dance. This is the idea of our summer gathering, which we are holding for the first time this year.

A co-created celebration
We intend the gathering to be co-created – meaning that those who show up will shape and lead the agenda.

We can’t be quite sure what will happen! But we imagine it will include a joyful and harmonious mix of:
– Work and play (for those who are up for it, we have some woodland, wildlife and building projects to get involved with)
– A variety of workshops and activities that will bring us closer to nature
– Music-making (bring your instrument, your voice and your enthusiasm!)
– Good food and good company
– Opportunities for rich conversation around the campfire
Sometimes, you may simply want to laze under the boughs of a beech tree or spend quiet time wandering freely among the trees, all in a spirit of play and laughter.

In return, we ask you:
To pay a fee in advance, so that we can cover our costs. Tickets prices are below
Contribute your energy, time and talents. Perhaps you might lead an activity, share a poem or song, be part of a workgroup taking on repair or tidying tasks, help with food preparation or washing up or make some other contribution to the life of the wood.   We do hope you can join us.

Timing?   The gathering will run from 3pm on Monday 29th July to 11 am on Saturday 3rd August.

What if I can’t get arrive in time for the start? You will be welcome to arrive any time up until Wednesday morning.
